Saigon, Vietnam

One of the most challenging projects, this was the darkest and most segregated apartment that Tomato Projects had handed to us. It was stuffy, with small windows and it had only 1 bathroom to start with. With this in mind, we seek to radically transform the space by turning the place inside out - the problematic middle section of the unit was raised to create 3 stunning, open-planned bathrooms that created a conversation with the new rooms. The raised floor created a two-step platform that became a feature as it seamlessly blended into the space. Every surface - wall, floor, ceiling, was painted white, with benches, counters all cast in-situ on site. The loose furniture were purposely chosen in ratten, wicker and ethnic patterns to contrast the whiteness of it all.

Area: 1200 sq ft
